Sicilian (often referred to as Sicilian Artichoke Garlic, though it isn't related to actual artichokes) is a mild and friendly variety added to dishes that just need a hint of garlic flavor. An heirloom from the island of Sicily. In my experience, this cultivar forms rock-solid bulbs. They make my fingers sore to pop apart at planting time more than any other variety I have grown! It is, however, worth it because this trait seems to be why they store longer than any other varieties I have; up to 10 months. This is a good variety for braiding.

Bulb Grading Notes...
The only difference between culinary and seed grade bulbs is size. Seed grade bulbs are 2 inches in diameter or over. Culinary bulbs are 1 1/2 inches or more but less than 2 inches. You can use either grade interchangeably, but if you are planting your garlic, then seed grade bulbs will give you a larger harvest. The smaller culinary bulbs can still be grown, but they may take two seasons to reach full potential. They do, however, tend to store longer and have better flavor than jumbo bulbs.
