A superb cultivar! A very reliable and vigorous strain with large bulbs, very large plump cloves, and is quite majestic if allowed to form a scape (flower stalk) in the garden; sometimes reaching seven feet. This VERY popular market variety is highly sought after by chefs who appreciate the very large and fat cloves when it is time to peel them. An excellent cultivar for beginner garlic growers. A sweet and substantial garlic, when baked, can be very hot when consumed raw.
As with all Porcelain family garlics, this is a very good variety for its health benefits, as porcelains have been found to carry the highest levels of allicin.
Bulb Grading Notes...
The only difference between culinary and seed grade bulbs is size. Seed grade bulbs are 2 inches in diameter or over. Culinary bulbs are 1 1/2 inches or more but less than 2 inches. You can use either grade interchangeably, but if you are planting your garlic, then seed grade bulbs will give you a larger harvest. The smaller culinary bulbs can still be grown, but they may take two seasons to reach full potential. They do, however, tend to store longer and have better flavor than jumbo bulbs.
