- Garlic Scapes
Sustainably grown garlic scapes for your culinary delights! Have you ever wondered if there is a milder and less intense version of raw garlic? This is it.
Garlic scapes are a highly seasonal gourmet treat! They are the flower stalks of the garlic plant and are much smoother and milder than the bulb. A lot like how leeks are used instead of onions for their finer culinary qualities.
At Cottonwood Hollow Homestead we produce all of our garlic and garlic scapes using sustainable and regenerative practices. We do not use any chemicals and our focus is strongly on growing all of our produce for maximum nutrient density through the high Brix garden program. It is amazing how when the Brix (nutrient density) goes up so does the flavor! In other words, the better the produce tastes, the better it is for you!
Please note that we ship scapes as they are ready on a first come first serve basis. The harvest starts at the end of May and continues for one or two weeks. After that there are no more scapes available until next year. Also note, that I do not wash the scapes before I send them to you to preserve them longer, so you will need to give them a rinse before putting them to good use.
